Even though I’ve been backstage plenty of times, even assisting the stage manager, to know I might have a chance to actually be a stage manager for a show is tremendously horrifying. But I want it so bad! In the last show I helped with, after a six month hiatus, I remembered why I love doing theatre. I also learned a few things about myself…

I don’t know why, and I do try to stop it, but once I’m comfortable with a show, I kind of take over. At least some aspects of the backstage workings. I really don’t mean to do it. And then I feel bad. So the idea of stage managing is horrifying, but also exhilarating. Even if I could co-stage manage, I would be happy, plus the experience wouldn’t hurt either.

I just have to wait and see what the spring holds. Woo!
