Layers

This is another one word prompt from The Daily Post.

“No, he can’t come out right now. He’s busy.”

“Does he not want to talk to me?”

“It’s not that he doesn’t want to talk.”

“Yes it is.”

“No, he’s afraid.”

“Why would he be afraid to talk to me?”

“Because–”

“Because you’ll just say he’s crazy.”

“Yes, that.”

“I can assure you, I do not think he is crazy. I just want to help–”

“He doesn’t need your help. He has us.”

“Both of us.”

“I understand that, but if he ever wants to understand why he needs you two, he knows he can talk to me.”

“Of course.”

“He will.”

“In time.”

With that Tim sat back and remained quiet. He didn’t even look at me. Just staring at the floor. His lips moved a little as if he were speaking, but no sound came out. I sat across from him, pad and pencil in hand waiting to see what he would do next. His lips stopped moving and looked at me.

“So where do we start?”
